Whitewater kayaking in the Oslo area
by Arild Gustafson

If you are visiting the Oslo area and looking to paddle whitewater, this page is a simple way to get in touch with the local community.
We are a small whitewater kayaking club based in the Oslo area. Many of our members paddle regularly and know the local rivers well. If someone is available, you might find a paddling partner, get up-to-date information on levels and access, or join for a session.
There are only a few relevant rivers in Oslo, but when water levels allow, they offer solid grade 3–4 paddling:
- Lomma (Lommedalselva), A classic local run with continuous and technical sections.
- Lysakerelva, Short and convenient, with varied character depending on flow.
- Akerselva, An urban river through Oslo, occasionally paddled at higher flows.
This is not a commercial offering or a guiding service, just a way to connect with local paddlers. Whether someone is available depends on timing, conditions, and who happens to be around.
We may be able to help with equipment if needed, but this also depends on availability.
